File a Google Meet call without the extension

Connect the Google account you join with. When the call ends, its transcript is summarised and filed on the customer, including a call you joined from your phone. On a computer, a side panel inside Meet does the same while you are still in the call.

What changed

A finished Google Meet call can now land on the customer's timeline without the Chrome extension. Connect the Google account you join with. When the call ends, Nabu reads the transcript Meet wrote, summarises it, and files both on the customer — from a phone, a laptop, or any browser.

If the call matches one customer, by the people on the calendar event or by a link you saved beforehand, it is filed on them. Otherwise it waits under Meetings without a customer until you say who it was with. A call the extension already saved is not written a second time.

On a computer, Google Meet can also show a Nabu side panel: sign in, pick or add the customer, and save the notes. Meet does not hand the panel a live caption stream, so the words you see there are the transcript Meet is writing, or the notes you type.

How to use it

  1. Open Google Meet extension.
  2. Press Connect Google for Meet and leave Meet and calendar access ticked. Back on the page you see Connected as your Google address. Sync now checks finished calls immediately.
  3. Calls that did not match one customer are listed under Meetings without a customer. Choose the customer, then press Assign to the chosen customer.
  4. To point a call at someone before it happens, use Link a call before it happens: paste the Meet link, choose the customer, and press Save the link.
  5. Inside Google Meet on a computer, open Activities, then this add-on, once it is installed from the Google Workspace Marketplace. Sign in, choose the customer, and press Save to the customer.

Good to know

  • Meet writes a transcript only when someone turns transcription on during the call, and only on Workspace editions that include it: Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise, and Education Plus. Business Starter and a personal Gmail account do not. A call with no transcript still shows up, so you can attach it; it is not given a made-up summary.
  • The side panel runs in Google Meet on a computer, in the browser. The Android and iPhone Meet apps do not load it. A call joined from a phone is picked up here after it ends.
  • Connect Google for Meet works once the administrator has finished the Google Cloud steps. Until then the page says Google Meet is not set up on this server yet.
  • Disconnect stops future calls from being filed. Calls already on a timeline stay there.
